Celebrating 75 years
Founded in 1951, Ballycoan Flute Band was established by a group of local lads on their way home from an RPB parade. Today, the band is proudly celebrating its 75th anniversary, marking three-quarters of a century of music, tradition and community involvement.
Welcoming the next generation
A family-friendly organisation, Ballycoan welcomes members of all ages and provides tuition in flute, drumming and drum majoring, helping to develop the next generation of musicians.
At the heart of the community
The band has a strong commitment to supporting its local community and has regularly contributed to charitable causes, including cancer charities and food banks. Alongside its musical activities, Ballycoan organises social events, historical visits and cultural outings, fostering friendship and community spirit among its members.
Competition achievements
Ballycoan competes in both the North of Ireland Bands Association (NIBA) and the Flute Band Association of Northern Ireland (FBANI), enjoying considerable success over the years. One of its proudest achievements came in 2025, when the band was named FBANI Band of the Year after achieving the highest overall points across the competition season.
Looking to the future
