Our history
Established in 1968, the Shankill Star Flute Band has been a proud part of the marching band tradition for decades, representing community spirit, loyalty, and musical heritage. Known for its disciplined appearance and strong performances on parade, the band has built a respected reputation both locally and across the wider band scene.
Giving back through music
Over the years, the band has also taken great pride in supporting various charities and community causes, using music to give something back to the people who have supported them throughout generations. From performances at local care homes to special community events, members have always recognised the importance of bringing enjoyment and companionship to others through music. One particularly memorable occasion saw the band proudly perform for a lady celebrating her 100th birthday — a moment that reflected the warmth, respect, and community spirit that the Shankill Star continues to uphold today.
Tradition and community spirit
Through generations of members, the band has remained committed to preserving tradition while maintaining a strong sense of camaraderie, pride, and service within the community.
